Brooklyn Museum’s Community-Curated Open Studio Project

The Brooklyn Museum has been spreading the word, with our publishers help, about their upcoming community-curated open studio project, GO. Artists across Brooklyn will open their studio doors, so that the public can decide who will be featured in a group show at the Brooklyn Museum.

The open studios will be held on September 8th and 9th. Community members will register to vote in order to participate in the judging process. During the weekend, voters will visit the participating artist’s studios and check in by texting, or using the GO app or GO mobile site. After checking in to at least five studios they are able to vote for up to three artists to be included in the show.

The ten artists with the most votes will receive visits from Brooklyn Museum curators. From those ten, two or more will be chosen to have their work exhibited as part of a group show at the museum in December.

Brooklyn Museum’s borough-wide initiative is sure to be a fun and interactive project. Nectar Ads and our publishers are happy to have a part in getting the word out to the Brooklyn community about this exciting open studio project.

The current exhibit at Asia Society Museum of work by Wu Guanzhong, considered one of the most important Chinese artists of the twentieth century, marks the first ever showing of Guanzhong’s work in New York.

The works selected for this exhibition include some of his best work from the mid-1970s to 2004 and are a perfect representation of how Guanzhong was able to breathe fresh air into the traditional medium of ink while also shining light on the historical legacy of ink painting in China.

The Asia Society Museum presents the posthumous retrospective, Revolutionary Ink: The Painting of Wu Guanzhong, currently on view and continuing through August 5th.

We were excited to work with Asia Society Museum to help publicize and promote this exhibition to our art audiences in New York and beyond.

Art Southampton Brings the Excitement of Miami to New York

This past weekend, the long awaited, inaugural debut of Art Southampton, the premier International Contemporary & Modern Art Fair took place in the Southampton, New York. Arriving from South Florida, this sister fair to Art Miami brought 50 of the world’s best contemporary art to a place that has long had a history as an artist’s community. There have been many great artists that have called the Hamptons’ East End home, from 20th century moderns like Lichtenstein and Warhol to 21st century greats like Sherman and Fischl.

In addition to the high quality art on display, the fair also offered visitors various social events and amenities. Director, Nick Korniloff, had this to say about the debut,

“Our goal as an organization is to come to the Hamptons and engage the community both socially and culturally long-term and offer a discerning group of collectors at every level the opportunity to enjoy the highest level art fair ever held in The Hamptons”.

We were thrilled to work with the Art Miami team to help make this inaugural debut of the Art Southampton Fair a big success for our highly engaged art audiences.
